WWDN West Coast Warmup #2

Here we are again for the second of the WWDN Thursday games. 72 players registered for this one giving a total prize pool of $720.00

I should be in good shape for this one having used most of my bad luck on a couple of SNG games earlier. Apparently I should learn not to call all-in wth AKs with an A on the flop because the turn and the river bring a straight for the guy with JQ.

Cards in the air :

First hand, folded Q7. everybody folds except bdidde & TNSpaceman who raises $260 after the flop with AA. bdidde folds with Ace high.

7:34 Wil appeared just as I won a 560 pot from Joanne with Queens.

Darn got moved from that table already.

Now playing with cfinn, April98, darzog, Kurtreply, DrPauly, Boobie Lover (sitting out) & SIR ROBIN. CFINN has a comfortable chip lead with 5110 right now.

7:39 no hands to speak of yet, have 1740 in chips

7:40 took out SIR ROBBIN with aces & eights vs sevens & sixes .. have $3460 now to put me in 2nd place. Feels like the pressure is off for a minute. Eclipse75048 took SIR ROBBINS place. JoeSpeaker arrived at some point.

7:49 same stack ... 5th place.

hey 7:50 My ace high flush lost to Eclipse's full house ... 3100 in chips left ... took back a few with my aces a couple of hands later.

7:52 DrPauly quit sitting out.

7:56 3085 chips 8th place ... average stack 1894

8:01 Gave Dr Pauly a chunk of my chips chasing an A that never came, 2790 left

8.03 KK hit a K on the flop, didn't dare bet it too hard ... up to 3215

8.06: 3740 average 2076. GUINNESS in 1st with 5400

8:10 Straight 10 - A bumped me up to 4965 and 4th place

8:11 laid down poket nines with 2KQ of hearts and a $250 raise from Sweet79Cuck

8:13 Down to 4015, Eclipse pulled a higher straight on me I had A - 5 ... dumb move, anybody with a 5 6 would beat me.

8:19 over bet nines and had to lay them down : 3265 left

8:20 damn ... laid down A-10 with a nothing flop ... would have rivered a 10-A straight 2965 left.

8:23 made a pair of aces to bring me back up a bit ... 3515 average 2769

8:25 yestbay1 took down a nice pot with a pair of queens ... he's up to 2720

8:30 3165 at the break in 11 place Darthparadox has the lead with 12,000+

8:38 took a pot with pocket 3's to move up to 3915. Yestbay1 says he laid down 5's both a 3 and a 5 were on the board.

8:44 up to 4465 ... 5th place

8:45 DrPauly just went out to bob labah's straight.

8:50 Yestbay won 1455 with trip jacks. Up4Poker just arrived at the table. I have 3700

8:57 haven't had a hand yet ... up4poker hanging on with 965

8:58 spoke too soon sweet79chuck took out up4poker

9:05 went out with K-10 against 57 with K-6-8 on the flop ... guess who rivered a straight. Rylenor ... well played.

22nd place ... was is it with me and going out in the 20's ? :-)

Had a go at a 800+ player $1 tourney tonight. Folded 88 to an all-in with a queen on the board in one hand only to see an 8 on the river. A few hands later, same thing only I didn't fold and didn't catch an 8 either. Should learn something from this I guess.

WWDN West Coast Warmup #1

I busted out of this one in 21st place after about 2 hours , mainly because I didn't take the time to watch the players at my new table after I was moved.

Highlights :

Winning a hand from Wil after he position raised and then folded to my reraise. I had K9 with a K on the board. This is the first time in several WWDN tournaments where I actually got to play against Wil for a couple of hands.
Holding the chip lead in the tournament for a short time, before getting bumped to a different table.
Finishing in the top 25% of players in a fairly tight tournament.

Hi, Welcome.

This is Terry's blog, not sure what I'll be posting yet, but it will probably be online poker related. You can find me on pokerstars under the name terrymr most evenings. I mainly play Sit-n-Go tournaments but occasionally play a cash game or two if I'm bored. I'm no poker expert, I play for fun and occaisionally win a couple of $'s.
